SARKLEY CROMWELL LEADS SUMMER SALE
The summer sale of Limousin bulls and females at Carlisle
on Friday 12th June met with a very solid trade which saw a top price
of 11,000gns.
PARKHOUSE
COWS LEAD SALE AT 20,000GNS & 15,000GNS
Limousin females were again in big demand at the Dispersal Sale from the
Parkhouse Herd on behalf of Tom Cheshire, Manor Farm, North Marston, Bucks,
held at Carlisle on Wednesday 20th May 2009.
NENUPHAR SIRED COW MAKES 7000GNS
AT TRAFFORD LIMOUSIN HERD SALE
A 7,000gns bid for a pedigree Limousin cow with a heifer calf
at foot led the trade at the major reduction sale from the Trafford
Limousin Herd held at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday 15th
May.
RECORD LIMOUSIN AVERAGE AT BRECON OF £4,275
A record average of £4,275 and a total clearance of bulls
underpinned a strong trade for Limousin bulls at the Brecon Sale
held on Saturday 9th May, 2009 with McCartneys Auctioneers.

BULLS LEAD PERTH SALE AT 5,500GNS
Two bulls at 5,500gns led the May Multibreed Sale on 4th
May 2009 which was held for the final time by United Auctions
at Perth as the auctioneer is set to move to new premises
in Stirling.

IN HERD HEALTH
INITIATIVE INCREASES BY 18%
Breeders’ participation in the BLCS Herd Health Initiative
has continued to grow sharply with 156 herds, representing 5,375
pedigree Limousin calves, having registered for the financially
incentivised initiative.

CANTONA LEADS DUNGANNON SALE AT 6,000GNS
Packed judging and sale rings were evidence of the keen
interest in the Dungannon
Sale held on Monday March 30th 2009. With
the status of an Export Qualifying Sale assigned to it,
bidding was brisk with a total clearance of bulls forward.

BREED INCREASES MARKET SHARE TO 35%
Figures released for 2008 by the British Cattle Movement Service, Workington,
show that out of a total of 1,821,505 beef sired calves registered in the
year, 629,126 were sired by Limousin bulls.

LIMOUSIN SUCCESS GROWS FROM GREENMOUNT LIMO PROJECT
It has been an amazing few months for former Greenmount
LIMO Project student, Christina Loughran, Dungate, Dunamore,
Cookstown, Co. Tyrone which has seen her top the pedigree
Limousin sales scene at both the Perth and Carlisle bull
sales.

RECORD AT ABERDEEN FOR BUCHAAM BULL
Pedigree Limousin bulls sold to a centre record 6,200gns at the Royal Northern
Spring Show held at the Thainstone Centre, Inverurie on Wednesday, February
25th 2009.

PEAK AT 4,800GNS AT DUNGANNON
There was a firm trade for bulls and females at the British Limousin Cattle
Society Show & Sale held at Dungannon Mart on 6th– 7th
February which saw bulls sold to a top of 4,800gns.

SEES FIRST BLACK LIMOUSIN CHAMPION
The Perth Spring Limousin Show & Sale saw Newhouse
Black Colorado, from Messrs R Adam & Son, become the
first black Limousin to be crowned Champion at a Society
Show & Sale.
