Top price 11,000gns -– Averages Up by £813 – 18 more bulls sold on the year - 8 bulls over 4,000gns

A top price of 11,000gns for Sarkley Cromwell from EH Pennie & Son, Gwern-Yr-Ychain, Llandyssil, Montgomery, Powys led a strong summer sale of Limousin bulls and females held at Carlisle on Friday 12th June 2009. August 2007 born, Sarkley Cromwell is a powerful son of Sarkley Voltigeur (a full brother to the 23,000gns Sarkley Sebastian sold at Carlisle in May 2003) and is out of the Marron sired Sarkley Tarah. The depth of breeding combining Broadmeadows Cannon, Ronick Gains, Marron and Heros saw Sarkley Cromwell being purchased by Mr. R Dick, Mains of Throsk, Stirling for the noted Ronick pedigree herd. Commenting on his purchase, David Dick said; “Cromwell is a very growthy type of bull with strength of bone. He has tremendous shape and ends and features some great bloodlines in his pedigree.” The prolific Sarkley herd, which numbers approximately 220 head, enjoyed a very productive day’s trading. In addition to the top price of 11,000gns they also secured the second top at 6,200gns and sold further bulls at 5000, 4000, and 3800gns respectively. Later in the year, the Sarkley herd is planning to hold a production sale of 60-70 heifers at Carlisle.
