DUNGANNON LIMOUSINS PEAK AT 6,000GNS FOR A WILODGE VANTASTIC SON

The British Limousin Cattle Society held its March Sale at Dungannon Market on Monday 30th March. With the status of an Export Qualifying Sale assigned to it, bidding was brisk with a total clearance of bulls forward realised including five animals heading to buyers in Scotland and the Republic of Ireland respectively.

Highest price of the day went to Francis McAuley, Toomebridge, Co Antrim who runs the noted Carmorn herd. His Supreme Champion Bull, Carmorn Cantona, is November 2007 born and his pedigree, on both sides, features bulls available on the Semenstore site. Cantona, who has a top 10% Beef Value of LM+29, is an AI son of the 42,000gns Wilodge Vantastic. Out of a Jockey daughter, Carmorn Rosie, Carmorn Cantona was purchased for 6,000gns by local butcher and farmer Derek Frew, who runs the Frewstown pedigree herd at Kellswater Rd, Antrim. A Wilodge Vantastic son, Goldies Comet at 23,000gns, also topped the Society’s record breaking sale at Carlisle held in February 2009.

The Overall Female Champion, Ballyrickard Cynthia, sired by Milbrook Vic and out of the Grange Navajo sired Ballyrickard Trixi, was forward by Ian Davidson & Son, Stewartstown Rd, Larne. Ballyrickard Cynthia, who has a top 10% Beef Value of LM+31, went under the hammer to D McNamee, Crockatore Rd, Newtownstewart, Co Tyrone for 2,800gns.
