HCC’s BEEF BREED IMPROVEMENT SCHEME
What is the Beef Breed Improvement Scheme?
This scheme is managed by HCC (Hybu Cig Cymru/Meat Promotion Wales) with funding from the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013. It aims to help Welsh beef breeders to achieve rapid genetic improvement by offering support to introduce superior genetic animals through Artificial Insemination (AI) and Embryo Transfer (ET), and also providing support for performance recording.
AI Support
HCC are offering 50% support to breeders for the cost of AI, including the cost of purchasing semen, up to a maximum of £300 per herd per year. To be eligible semen must be from eligible bulls. Bulls must fulfil the criteria in Table 1

ET Support
HCC are offering 50% support to breeders for the cost of ET. Breeders can claim up to a maximum of £700 per herd. To be eligible embryos must be inseminated by an eligible bull.
Performance Recording Support
HCC are also offering 50% funding towards the cost of performance recording. This includes the cost of scanning.
