VIRGINIA ANDY SON MAKES 8500GNS AT STIRLING

Bulls available on the Semenstore again made their mark at the British Limousin Cattle Society’s February 2010 Sale held at United Auction’s Sirling market on 3rd February.
The pre-sale show Senior Champion, put up by judge Mr Stephen Irvine, Braehead Farm, Drummuir, Banffs, was Maraiscote Diego, the Virginia Andy son who sold at the 8,500gns mark to the noted commercial producer Peter Alexander, Mains of Mause, Blairgowrie, Perthshire.
Consignor was Ian Nimmo, Bogside Farm, Newmains, Wishaw who runs a herd of around 80 pedigree and 80 commercial cows. Out of the dam, Maraiscote Tarka, the 8,500gns Maraiscote Diego is sired by Virginia Andy, the Overall Limousin Supreme & Male Champion at the Royal Highland Show 2009. Another Virginia Andy son, the first prize winning Maraiscote Dakota, sold at 4,500gns. Virginia Andy’s first son offered sold for 7,800gns Carlisle October 2009.

The pre-sale Champion, Grahams Defoe, consigned by R&J Graham, Airthrey Kerse, Bridge of Allan, Stirling made 5,500gns when going under the hammer to JM Fraser, Easter Clune of Lethen, Nairn. Grahams Defoe was sired by the three-time Burke Trophy winning Samy and out of the French dam, Usurpation, he carried a Beef Value of LM+30. Samy’s progeny at sale have sold up to 26,000gns to date.
In all, 68 Limousin bulls averaged £4376 at this early year fixture with, 18 bulls selling at over 5,000gns and averages up by £383.
